Hailey Van Lith Facing Backlash for New Caitlin Clark Comments

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has only played one WNBA season, but she may already have the most rivalries in the league.

She and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese last emerged as the league's biggest rivalry last season, but there may be even more players with a rivalrous relationship with Clark coming into the league after Monday's WNBA draft.

Former Louisville/LSU/TCU and now-Sky guard Hailey Van Lith could join the list of players with a beef to settle with Clark. In a video from the draft that surfaced online recently, Van Lith and other draft prospects were asked to play the game of "start, bench, cut" with Diana Taurasi, Sabrina Ionescu and Clark.

While some dodged the question, Van Lith had an answer locked and loaded.

 "Oh my gosh," Van Lith said. "Give flowers to the legend. We're gonna start Diana Taurasi...I'm going to bench Sabrina (Ionescu) and cut Caitlin (Clark)."

An answer that led to many fans assuming she is still holding a grudge against Clark for knocking LSU out of the NCAA Tournament in 2024. 

"Don't worry HVL, that cut player will see you on May 17," warned one fan.

"lol. clark cooks them all and they all know it. HVL shouldn't have said that," wrote one fan.

"Welp. Haley is gonna have to shrug her shoulders a few times this season after playing Indy," added another.

"I see HVL still salty from CC cooking her in the Elite Eight," joked one user.

"First game Caitlin dropping 32 on HVL," projected another.

"Some of these women are still so salty about CC," said another.
