Here's When the LSU Tigers Kick Off the SEC Baseball Tournament
Scott Clause

The LSU Tigers earned the No. 3 seed in the SEC Tournament, and with the new format, they will earn a double bye, meaning they'll play their first game on Friday night.

After posting a 42-13 (19-11 SEC) record, the Tigers received the No. 3 seed in the SEC Tournament, behind only the No. 2 Arkansas Razorbacks and No. 1 Texas Longhorns. With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma, the format of the tournament has changed and LSU will kick it off on Friday against either No. 14 Texas A&M, No. 11 Mississippi State or No. 6 Auburn.

The new SEC Baseball Tournament format has completely changed the complexion of the weekend. They used to have 12 of the 14 teams make it and it was a double elimination tournament up until the semifinals, where it changed to single elimination. Now, all 16 teams make it, seeds 1-4 earn a double bye, 5-8 earn a single bye and the entire thing is single elimination.

As the three seed, LSU will need to win three games in a row to be dubbed SEC Tournament Champions. Their road will likely start with Auburn on Friday night at approximately 6:30 p.m. CT before playing the winner of the Arkansas game on Saturday.

This new look SEC Tournament should be quite fun, but it won't be easy for Jay Johnson's squad. The Tigers are looking to win their first SEC Tournament since 2017, which is pretty hard to believe for a team with as much history as them.

Their quest begin Friday night after the conclusion of the Arkansas game, which begins at 3 p.m. CT. We'll see if they can get it done or if they'll come up just short again.
