A tragedy struck a high school baseball player in Ohio. The kid suffered a severe medical emergency after putting up a strong performance on the field.
High school baseball has been under the spotlight for not-so-positive reasons recently. At the end of March, a cop hit a player in the head while many upset parents berated the official.
Fortunately, that wasn’t as dark as the story Wooster High School confirmed on Saturday.
According to reports online, Maddox Graser, a sophomore at Wooster High School, had two hits in a 10-0 win earlier this week. On Saturday, the school shared the tragic news about Maddox.
“Dear WHS Students and Families,” school principal Margaret Davis began. “It gives me great sorrow to inform you that Maddox Graser, a sophomore student at Wooster High School, passed away after experiencing a severe medical emergency earlier this week. Our deepest sympathy is extended to his family, friends, classmates, and all who knew him.
“Maddox was an outstanding student, athlete, and friend, and he will be deeply missed in our building.
“We know there are often no words that can console or relieve us from our grief, and over the coming days and weeks, we expect students may experience a number of emotions. It is our priority to support them through it.”
The kid became ill that evening. He was rushed to a hospital in Wooster and later transported to Akron Children’s Hospital as his condition worsened. Details about his death remain unclear.
