Hollywood Star Accused Of Falling Asleep During Wimbledon Match

Many of England's biggest celebrities are at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to catch the Wimbledon Championships. Unfortunately, it looks like one well-known English actor struggled to keep his eyes open.

Photos and videos from today's match between Novak Djokovic and Flavio Cobolli showed that Golden Globe winner Hugh Grant appeared to be dozing off during the second set. His head was slumped to the side, though his eyes were hidden by his sunglasses.

Mind you, Grant wasn't in some normal seat that anyone can get. He was in the Royal Box, seated with several billionaires and within walking distance of the Queen of England.

Users on social media quickly took Grant to task for managing to fall asleep during one of the world's biggest sporting events:

"Bit like what happens when people watch his films," one user joked.

"A little too much complimentary alcohol and sun for Hugh Grant on centre court and in the Royal Box at Wimbledon today. He won't get an invite again if he can't be bothered to stay awake and watch!!" another remarked.

"Hugh Grant is sleeping through the first set tie break! (Expletive) like him and some other 'celebs' who get privileged tickets for #Wimbledon2025 don't deserve them!!!" a third wrote.

"Hugh Grant dreaming of a Jannik Sinner vs. Carlos Alcaraz final at #Wimbledon… right now… in the Royal Box."

It isn't even like the action on the court isn't compelling. Cobolli stunned Djokovic by winning the first set, only for Djokovic to even things up on the second.

But whether it really is the alcohol, the sun, a mix of the two or just normal fatigue, Grant doesn't seem to be taking it in the same way the rest of us are.

Grant won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA in 1995 for Four Weddings and a Funeral and has been nominated for two Emmys in the United States. He's no stranger to controversy either, famously being arrested that same year in a Hollywood vice operation.
