How Kadyn Proctor can immediately impact the Miami Dolphins

Alabama starting left tackle Kadyn Proctor was drafted by the Miami Dolphins with the No. 12 pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday night after spending three seasons with the Crimson Tide and starting all 15 games last season.

Proctor will join a Dolphins offensive line that currently sees Patrick Paul start at left tackle and Austin Jackson start at right tackle. He could certainly make an immediate impact for the Dolphins and their new quarterback.

Miami could decide to move the 6-foot-7, 366-pounder around, but with the physicality and traits that he possesses, it would come as no surprise if fans saw Proctor get playing time fairly early into the season.

The Dolphins’ offensive line has struggled to protect the quarterback recently, while the entire offense has struggled as a whole, being led by former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. But Miami is making changes in hopes of fixing the issue.

Tagovailoa was traded to the Falcons, and in return, Miami received quarterback Malik Willis. Proctor will now be tasked with jumping into the trenches and protecting Willis and running backs De’Von Achane and Jaylen Wright.

The Dolphins’ offense has become centered around speed and the ability to spread the ball out, which is exactly the type of offense that Proctor will excel in, and even if he struggles at first, he’s shown how capable he is of learning and developing.

Proctor is extremely flexible, even having lined up in the backfield for the Tide a few times, taking handoffs and catching passes. Not only is he flexible and capable of doing whatever Miami needs, but he’s already one of the biggest on its line.

Out of the first and second string tackles in Miami, Proctor is tied for the second-tallest, but has 40 pounds on Paul, who at 326 pounds is the biggest on the line for the Dolphins right now. As it currently stands, Miami’s line is not all that impressive.

After garnering a variety of accolades and national attention since leaving his Iowa high school, Proctor has emerged as one of the most talented and capable offensive tackles in college football, and will hope to prove the same in Miami.
