The strange back-and-forth between UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria and boxing star Terence Crawford has not slowed down at all.
Crawford secured the undisputed super middleweight title on Saturday with the most significant win of his career against Canelo Alvarez.
It was a historic moment in boxing, but it was not long before attention shifted back to his ongoing spat with Topuria. The two have been trading shots ever since a photo of them together surfaced online.
‘El Matador’ posted the photo to social media and threw out a question for fans: who would win in a fight between the two?
Topuria’s post left Crawford a bit puzzled. The American responded by calling the Spaniard ‘drunk’ for claiming he could win a boxing match against him.
Despite Topuria pushing to build a rivalry, UFC president Dana White has never been a fan of crossover bouts involving his fighters.
But with White now connected to the boxing world through TKO Boxing, ‘El Matador’ believes he might have a better shot at making it happen.
On the other hand, Crawford does not seem interested in the matchup right now.
He even admitted after his fight against Canelo that he had not heard of Topuria and had never seen him compete, which led to a response from the Spaniard.
You say you’re an MMA fan but you don’t even know who I am… interesting. The first time we met you told me ‘good luck this week with your fight.’ Your memory fails you… and soon your chin will too.

“Your memory fails you… And soon, your chin will too. I’ll represent the entire MMA community. Pound-for-pound number one in real fights vs the pound-for-pound boxer,” Topuria wrote on X.
Even though Crawford says he did not know who Topuria was and is not interested in a crossover bout, there was an interesting link between the two on fight night.
Crawford walked out to the same song the Spaniard uses, though he maintains it was purely coincidental and claims he had no idea ‘El Matador’ uses it as his entrance music.
