As the clock ticks toward UFC 328 weigh-in, here is a little sneak peek into Khamzat Chimaev’s brutally disciplined diet plan, which is designed to manage weight without sacrificing fight-night power.

The much-anticipated fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland is just hours away. And just hours before the fight, Matteo Capodaglio revealed Chimaev’s strict 48-hour pre-fight diet plan, offering fans a rare glimpse into the intense preparation behind one of UFC’s biggest matchups.

In the video, Khamzat Chimaev gave fans a glimpse of his carefully curated breakfast, a balanced combination of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats. The plate was designed to fuel his body for the fight. It included a freshly made omelet, slices of avocado, a few pieces of 85% dark chocolate, and a selection of berries, including strawberries and blackberries.

As he was handed the plate, Khamzat joked, “You sure we can eat that?” to which his confident nutritionist, Capodaglio, replied, “I absolutely believe we can.”

To give viewers the full extent of the exact amount of nutrients the champion is getting, the video gave out that information:

  • Protein – 30g
  • Fat -53g
  • Carbohydrates – 29g
  • Calories – 675 kcal

The video came with a caption, “We are getting really close to official weigh-ins. As we mentioned yesterday, carbohydrate intake becomes lower and more strategic at this stage. This is what Khamzat is eating 48 hours out, as we prepare for the final phase of the weight cut.”

Besides that, the reigning middleweight champion’s diet usually includes the following items:

Breakfast

Protein pancakes filled with some raw honey, almond butter, and berries.

Lunch

Mashed sweet potatoes, salad, and half steak.

Snacks

Some mixed nuts and Greek yogurt.

Dinner

Salmon, quinoa, and asparagus.

Since late October 2024, Dr. Capodaglio has been overseeing Chimaev’s full training-camp nutrition, including in-person support during fight weeks.

Chimaev Explains the Difference in Diet in Separate Weight Classes

The UFC champion moved up from the welterweight to the middleweight weight class in 2023. Talking about his diet difference since shifting weight classes in a YouTube docuseries.

“It’s a different weight class. Different power. We eat different, not hungry anymore. At 77kg (welterweight), I just eat rice, rice fish, rice chicken, It’s crazy. Now it’s more training than before, more food, more energy. Different power, different energy, so that’s good. We need to cut the weight any way but it’s not that much like before. These next 30 days I will cut down on the food. Everything is different, man.”

He is ready to defend his middleweight title against Sean Strickland, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
