With less than a month remaining before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, every competition around the world is reaching the end of its respective season.
However, the Netherlands received the kind of news no national team wants to hear: one of its star players is recovering from an injury and will miss the most prestigious tournament in soccer.
At the same time, some national teams are already thinking ahead and preparing international friendlies to test tactics, systems, and players for the continental tournaments scheduled for the year after the World Cup.
One of those cases is the Republic of Ireland and Grenada, which will face each other tonight.
For tonight’s friendly, Eiran Cashin will miss the match with a hamstring injury. Teenagers Jaden Umeh and Paul O'Mahony also left the Irish camp before the game.
Grenada has not reported any injury absences.

The Dallas vs the Whitecaps will kick off at 12:00 p.m ET on Saturday, May 17, 2026.
US viewers can watch it live on the RTÉ Player.
Obviously, since it is a friendly match, both teams will use this clash to test young players or give national team minutes to those who have not had much participation in the past.
However, both countries are coming off draws in their last matches, although the Republic of Ireland national football team has more to prepare for, as the Irish side will return to UEFA Nations League action after the World Cup.
Meanwhile, according to reports, the Grenada national football team currently has no upcoming matches scheduled.
Prediction: Ireland 1-0 Grenada
