Jayden Reed had one of the better catches of the season on Sunday to set up a Packers game-winning touchdown.

Catching up with Michigan State rookies in the NFL is one of my favorite things to do every year. And this year, it’s especially fun as Jayden Reed leads the group of Spartan rookies in the league, starting at receiver for the Packers.

The second-round pick has been solid through his first three NFL games, catching nine of his 20 targets for 148 yards and two scores. He’s being targeted nearly seven times per game and he’s making the most of them.

This number is especially impressive when you consider his quarterback is a first-year starter.

None of Reed’s catches this season have been as impressive as the one he had on Sunday afternoon to set up the game-winning Packer touchdown against the Saints. His diving catch against the Saints was vintage Jayden Reed.

With time winding down in the fourth quarter, down by six and driving, Love put the ball where only Reed could get it as his defender was draped all over him on the route. He laid out and made the catch of his young career at the 11-yard-line. It was an eye-popping grab for a rookie.

The Packers went on to score a touchdown to take an 18-17 lead and the Saints missed a field goal that would’ve won it.

These are the kinds of catches that make me believe more than anything that Reed is going to be in the NFL for a long, long time. Not only is he fast and elusive with the ball in his hands, but he catches anything he gets his hands on.

Reed almost had his third touchdown catch of the season earlier in the second half, coming down with the ball in the end zone only to have the defender kick it out of his grasp. It was a true “go up and get it” catch by Reed, but he just couldn’t complete the process.

He finished the day with three catches for 63 yards, including this beauty.

Jayden Reed is going to be fun to watch for a long time.
