The USC women’s basketball team is having a great season so far, and a big reason why is JuJu Watkins. She is only a true freshman, but she is one of the best players in the entire country. On Friday night, she put up more than points than any other player has this season as she scored 51 points in a massive win for the Trojans over #4 Stanford. Watkins is a star, and she can take USC far.

JuJu Watkins’ performance on Friday came off after a tough shooting performance in a USC women’s basketball loss. After that loss, she stayed at the facility shooting so late that a security guard had to ask head coach Lindsay Gottlieb if they should kick Watkins out. Gottlieb said no, and that was the right decision.

“All week I said, ‘This kid is different,'” Lindsay Gottlieb said after the USC win vs. Stanford, according to an article from ESPN. “She’s special, the way she takes coaching, the way she’s a teammate, the way she holds herself accountable, the way she raises her level. So I did not predict this, but I think that what is so special about her is everything inside, and then obviously it came out today in a way that, if you love basketball, I don’t know how you’re not blown away.”

USC needed that win over Stanford, and they are now 15-4 overall on the year and 5-4 in conference play.
