KARE 11 sports director Reggie Wilson says his position is "being eliminated" and he will leave the TV station at the end of the year.

Wilson made the announcement on his LinkedIn page Thursday, confirming his last day at the Twin Cities NBC affiliate will be December 31.

"It’s not easy navigating layoffs, especially considering my wife and I are both enduring job loss at KARE in the same year," he wrote. "Now with a newborn at home, the stakes are raised. So I’m open for work.

"If you’re looking for a seasoned Emmy award winning sports anchor, who is highly skilled at hosting, effectively executing engaging live shots, one on one interviews with top athletes, hosting streaming shows/podcasts and of course, dynamic storytelling, I'm your guy."

Wilson's wife, Alexis Rogers, left the station in January following national layoffs, having joined her husband in the Twin Cities in 2023.

Wilson has been with the station since August 2021, filling the vacancy left by the departure of longtime sports director Eric Perkins.

It's not clear whether there are more layoffs in addition to Wilson's, nor what his departure means for the wider sports department at KARE 11.
