Houston Rockets All-Star forward Kevin Durant is joining multiple fellow athletes in a partnership with a popular beverage company.
Spindrift, the fruit-flavored sparkling water manufacturer, has begun a collaboration with Patricof Co, a private talent agency for professional athletes, to bring multiple of their athletes together as investors, according to a recent Instagram post from Boardroom on Thursday. The athletes are part of a larger collaboration with Gryphon Investors, a San Francisco-based private investment firm.
The athletes include professional and college basketball players such as Durant, Sophie Cunningham (Indiana Fever), Azzi Fudd (UConn Huskies) and Derrick White (Boston Celtics).
The investors also include former LSU Tigers gymnast Livvy Dunne, FC Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf and Durant and Rich Kleiman’s financial investment organization 35V.
Spindrift has begun growing its business by advertising itself as a natural beverage that is free of calories and sugar to keep you fit. Furthermore, it prioritizes flavoring its products with natural sweeteners such as fruit juice over artificial flavors.
“Professional athletes care deeply about what they put in their bodies, their performance on and off the field, and the impact they can have on the world around them,” Patricof Co-founder Mark Patricof said. “Spindrift checks all those boxes and more.”
To kickstart the partnership, Spindrift is creating a social media video series in which athletes will participate in blind taste tests and athlete draft picks to help create a connection between themselves and the organization. Durant’s decision to partner with Spindrift is not surprising, considering he has partnerships with companies such as Nike, Fanatics and FanDuel.
