To the surprise of absolutely no one, Kirk Herbstreit had nothing but kind things to say about Lee Corso on his 90th birthday.

Herbstreit has been by Corso's side throughout their run on "College GameDay." They first started working together in 1996. Fans really appreciate how much love and respect they have for each other.

If we had to guess, Herbstreit will shed a few tears during Corso's final episode of "College GameDay" on Aug. 30.

"Coach Corso has had an iconic run in broadcasting, and we're all lucky to have been around to witness it," Herbstreit said after Corso announced his retirement. "He has taught me so much throughout our time together, and he's been like a second father to me. It has been my absolute honor to have the best seat in the house to watch Coach put on that mascot head each week."

In the meantime, Herbstreit is celebrating Corso's latest milestone.

On Thursday morning, Herbstreit shared a photo of him and Corso on the set of "College GameDay." His post included a short but sweet message for the legendary ESPN analyst.

"Happy 90th birthday to the man," Herbstreit wrote. "Love ya bud!"

We'd have to imagine Corso appreciates this message from Herbstreit. After all, he gave him a shoutout during his retirement letter.

"ESPN has been exceptionally generous to me, especially these past few years. They accommodated me and supported me, as did my colleagues in the early days of College GameDay," Corso wrote. "Special thanks to Kirk Herbstreit for his friendship and encouragement. And lest I forget, the fans ... truly a blessing to share this with them. ESPN gave me this wonderful opportunity and provided me the support to ensure success. I am genuinely grateful."

We're certainly hoping Corso enjoys his 90th birthday.
