The MLB season is in full swing, and the Washington Nationals have made the first major change on their coaching staff and front office. Both of which were a bit surprising to the baseball world but could have big implications on LSU Tigers pitcher Kade Anderson.

Nationals move on from coach and general manager

According to reports, the Nats are starting fresh. Washington has fired general manager Mike Rizzo and manager Davey Martinez.

Anderson's agent, Scott Boras, shared a strong relationship with the now former GM for Washington. Will that affect how the Nationals attack the first pick process? Only time will tell.

Can't be overstated how involved Mike Rizzo was in the Nationals scouting process. A scout at heart. Long, decorated career in scouting. Many have long felt Rizzo and Scott Boras have a very strong relationship. Ethan Holliday and Kade Anderson are both Boras clients. -- Joe Doyle

Washington's slot value for the first pick is just over $11 million. The only other slot value above $10M is the second pick, held by the Los Angeles Angels. Meanwhile, if Anderson slide to a team like the St. Louis Cardinals at pick five, then the potential value for him would be just over $8.1M - a notable shift from those top two.

Kade Anderson MLB Draft stock

Anderson has been a popular selection with the first overall pick in a plethora of mock drafts. That is for good reason. The lefty has impressive upside with a mixture of pitches that you don't often see from starters.

Anderson's fastball plays much better than its velocity (sitting 92-94 mph, touching 97) because it carries past bats up in the strike zone. He used an upper-70s downer curveball as his main breaking pitch as a freshman but since has switched to a high-spin mid-80s slider that has the makings of a plus offering. He also employs a mid-80s changeup with fade and sink that has become a true weapon as he has used it more often.

With a quick arm and athletic delivery, Anderson provides plenty of strikes. There's still projection remaining in his slender 6-foot-2 frame, and his uptick in stuff this spring could make him a No. 2 starter. He also comes with a high floor as a lefty with four effective offerings and pitchability. --MLB.com
