Over the weekend, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was named one of two captains for the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game — an honor Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is quite familiar with, having held the same distinction multiple times in the NBA.

However, on Monday, the full voting breakdown was released, and while Clark ranked No. 1 in fan voting and No. 4 among media members, she was surprisingly placed No. 9 by WNBA players. That ranking came in behind names like Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers, Clark’s own teammate Kelsey Mitchell, and several others — sparking strong reactions across the sports world.

One of the most vocal responses came from ESPN personality Dick Vitale, who wrote on social media:

"Absolutely PURE JEALOUSY that WNBA players voted Caitlin Clark the 9th best guard," Vitale posted. "Some day they will realize what she has done for ALL of the players in the WNBA — chartered planes, increased salaries, sold-out crowds, improved TV ratings."

While James didn’t comment directly, he made his stance clear by liking a post that featured Vitale’s quote — further showing his continued support for Clark since her arrival in the league.
