Lions Invite Auburn Linebacker for Pre-Draft Visit

The Detroit Lions may not be done making moves at linebacker this offseason.

They've already re-signed Derrick Barnes and brought in Grant Stuard to replace Jalen Reeves-Maybin in their rotation at the position.

However, they are still showing interest in prospects at the position in this year's NFL Draft.

The latest news on their pre-draft process involves a linebacker who spent five years with teams in Power Five conferences.

According to The Draft Network's Ryan Fowler, the Lions have invited Auburn linebacker Dorian Mausi for a local visit.

Mausi is eligible for a local visit because Detroit is his hometown, so this won't count towards the team's 30 pre-draft visits.

He is the second linebacker the Lions have met with who wasn't invited to the combine and should be available very late in the draft.

They previously met with Georgia's Chaz Chambliss as their first visit of the pre-draft process.

Mausi put together a solid college career. He spent his first four years at Duke and made 193 tackles for the Blue Devils over that time.

Then he transferred to Auburn for his final year and put together his best college season. He had 81 total tackles for the Tigers with nine for a loss and 2.5 sacks.

The Lions don't have a huge need at linebacker now that they've locked Barnes down for the next few seasons.

That could leave them looking at the late portion of the draft or even undrafted free agents to add at the position.

If that's all they have planned at the position, Mausi could be worth taking a chance on as a local player with plenty of Power Five experience.
