The Detroit Pistons have experienced a remarkable turnaround during the 2024-25 NBA season.

After enduring a franchise-worst 14-68 record last season, they currently hold a 39-31 record, positioning them as the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference standings.

This resurgence has significantly boosted their playoff prospects. With few games remaining, their current position suggests a strong likelihood of securing a playoff spot.

In their latest outing, the Pistons defeated a struggling Miami Heat team. Cade Cunningham, the team’s standout performer, delivered a clutch performance, leading Detroit to a 116-113 victory.

This win not only solidified their position in the playoff race but also demonstrated their ability to prevail in high-pressure situations.

Detroit Lions star breaks down His NBA fandom

The Pistons’ impressive season has not gone unnoticed, drawing attention from local sports figures. Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, attending a recent Pistons game, shared his unique perspective on NBA fandom.

Growing up in Orange County, California, St. Brown naturally gravitated toward the Los Angeles Lakers.

However, his time in Detroit has fostered an appreciation for the Pistons and their passionate fan base, expressing his support for both teams.

“In the Western Conference, I’m a Lakers fan; in the Eastern Conference, I’m a Pistons fan all the way,” St. Brown said.

Notably, this courtside interview took place at an away game, adding weight to his statement. It wasn’t just a home game in Detroit—St. Brown made the effort to support the team on the road.

The Lions star’s comments highlight the vibrant sports culture in Detroit, where the resurgence of teams like the Pistons has reignited enthusiasm among fans and local athletes alike.

As the regular season approaches its climax, the Pistons aim to maintain their momentum and secure a favorable playoff position.

Their recent performances, coupled with the support of a reinvigorated fan base, suggest a promising postseason ahead for Detroit basketball.
