Arthur Kaluma was a productive power forward at three programs through his collegiate career. That’s now led him into the league after the NBA Draft.
The Los Angeles Lakers have signed Kaluma to a deal as an undrafted free agent, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reported. The news came down shortly after Thursday’s second round of the 2025 NBA Draft.
Kaluma appeared in 134 games, 131 being starts, over four seasons with two at Creighton followed by one apiece at Kansas State and Texas. He’d average 12.2 points (43.8% FG, 32.1% 3PT on 1.1 makes), 6.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists for the Bluejays, Wildcats, and Longhorns. Kaluma had one of the best seasons of his career as a junior at K-State, posting 14.4 points (42.7% FG, 34.5% 3PT on 1.5 makes), 7.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists after transferring to Manhattan. Then, after transferring for his senior year in Austin, Kaluma put up 12.3 points (46.2% FG, 35.9% 3PT), 7.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, plus nearly a steal and block per game, for UT.
Kaluma, from Glendale, Arizona, played high school basketball at Dream City Christian. He was the No. 50 overall prospect there as a four-star recruit in the 2021 cycle. He rated as a top-dozen power forward in the class and a top-five player out of the state, behind his teammate in Shaedon Sharpe (Kentucky – Portland Trailblazers) as well as TyTy Washington (Kentucky) and Michael Foster (G-League Ignite). That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3’s James Fletcher recently rated Kaluma as a top-ten prospect among the power forwards in this class. That’s with just enough game to have a chance at finding himself a role in the NBA.
“Arthur Kaluma plays with a certain edge which will have him on the fringe of NBA conversations. He has seen ups and downs on both ends of the floor, but has enough on both ends to interest teams in his long-term fit as a role players who can fill minutes,” Fletcher wrote.
