The LSU Tigers

Here's how it happened.

Alabama got on the board early with a one-run first inning, but Anthony Eyanson did a great job getting out of a bases loaded jam with just one run on the scoreboard. LSU was set to match them in the bottom of the frame, but Alabama's starting pitcher, Riley Quick, made an incredible catch on a line drive right back at him to end the inning.

After a quiet second inning, the Tigers got in the score column in the second. Chris Stanfield singled to the short stop before a throwing error advanced him to second base. He tagged up and got to third on a fly out from Derek Curiel before Daniel Dickinson singled to bring him home. Dickinson then advanced all the way to third on an errant pick off attempt and Jared Jones drove him home with an RBI double to the right field gap to give LSU a 2-1 lead.

LSU picked up right where they left off in the bottom of the fourth inning. Michael Braswell doubled to start the inning, and a couple batters later, Chris Stanfield found the only spot in right field without a defender for a blooper double, putting runners on second and third. Derek Curiel then came to the plate and drove a single to right field which brought both runs home and gave LSU a 4-1 lead through four.

After Anthony Eyanson exited, Zac Cowan entered in the seventh and gave up his first earned run since LSU's SEC-opening series against Missouri. He was able to limit the damage to just one and LSU went into the bottom of the frame leading 4-2.

The Tigers threatened in the eighth with the bases loaded and one out, but couldn't blow it open. Alabama came right back in the top of the ninth and plated a run to cut LSU's lead to one, but Cowan was able to get the final out and they won, 4-3.

Daniel Dickinson led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 with one RBI while Derek Curiel added a pair of RBIs and extended his on-base streak to 40 games.

Anthony Eyanson allowed a run in the first, but looked strong the rest of the way as he struck out 12 in 6.0 innings of work.
