When the NCAA Championships get underway in Fort Worth next Thursday, LSU will compete in the second session against Michigan State, UCLA and Utah. The top two teams will advance to the final four against the highest scoring teams in session one.
For LSU to defend their team National Championship, it will require them to beat arguably the nation’s top gymnast.
Utah gymnast Grace McCallum is a problem. She is currently one of six finalists for the AAI award for the most outstanding female senior gymnast in the country. McCallum has seemingly won every award she has competed for. She was named to the All Big 12 team for vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise and all-around.
McCallum is definitely headed to Texas with sights on an all-around individual title. But will that be enough to propel Utah to team glory?

The Red Rocks have a number of competitors capable of putting up impressive scores in each rotation. The stars on vault include Makenna Smith, Ella Zirbes and Ashley Glynn. These three earned all Big 12 alongside Grace McCallum.
On the uneven bars, Amelie Morgan is a three time WCGA scholastic All-American. The senior from Bristol, England had a high score of 9.89 on uneven bars and also earned All Big-12 honors on the balance beam with a 9.885.
Camie Winger and Jaylene Gilstrap also earned All Big-12 honors on the balance beam and floor exercise respectively. Avery Neff was named to the All-Freshman team.
The #4 ranked Utah Gymnastics team is competing in its 49th consecutive National Championship. The Red Rocks have won a total of 10 team titles during that time.
