There are butt-kicking's and then there is what Notre Dame did to Purdue on Saturday.
For 60 minutes Notre Dame imposed its will on Purdue, routing the Boilermakers 66-7 and handing the in-state rival its worst loss in the 137 year history of the program.
Notre Dame did exactly what it needed to do one week after suffering one of the most embarrassing losses in program history.
Marcus Freeman Deserves Credit for Notre Dame's Bounceback
Marcus Freeman was public enemy number-one across Notre Dame football the past week, after suffering a third home upset as a double-digit favorite last week against Northern Illinois, the Irish were flat out dominant a week later.
How little trust did Notre Dame and Freeman have after last week's loss?
Notre Dame was a 16-17 point favorite against Purdue according to most online sites before losing to Northern Illinois. By kickoff Saturday the point spread went all the way down to Notre Dame being favored by just seven.
Heck, Pat McAfee even picked Purdue to upset the Irish on College GameDay, Saturday morning.

Notre Dame looked the part of a team that was ranked nationally in the top-five just a week ago.
Both the offensive and defensive lines dominated in a way that isn't often seen against a Power Four opponent.
Notre Dame's running game did whatever it wanted, whenever it wanted.
Defensively the Irish were flying around, making life hard on Purdue quarterback Hudson Card from the first play of the game all the way through when reserves and underclassmen were manning the defense late.
The blame for last week's no-show against Northern Illinois falls on the head coach, make no doubt.
But responding by handing Purdue the biggest blowout defeat in program history deserves credit and Freeman gets that from me following Saturday's win.

Former MSU Star Jase Richardson's Orlando Magic Outlook
Former Michigan State guard Jase Richardson parlayed a surprisingly successful freshman season into a first-round selection in the 2025 NBA Draft. Now a member of the Orlando Magic, Richardson has a chance to be a serious contributor for one of the top Eastern Conference contenders. The Magic are expected to compete for the conference, not only because they are a talented, up-and-coming team, but also due to multiple other Eastern Conference contenders suffering injuries to major contributors. Whatever the reason may be, Richardson has the chance to earn significant minutes for Orlando this upcoming season. Richardson likely won’t win Rookie of the Year as long as Cooper Flagg stays healthy for the Dallas Mavericks, but he could earn first-team All-Rookie honors with a good season. He is a composed, mature player for his age, which likely endeared the Magic to him. He made good on that belief during Summer League, averaging 16.5 points per game on nearly 56 percent from the field and hitting half of his three-point attempts. The Magic needed an outside shooter like Richardson, as they struggled to connect on many deep shots last season. Orlando shot 26.3 percent from 3-point range in the postseason, the worst by any team. Richardson may already be the team’s best outside shooter, and for that reason, he should be heavily in the rotation during his rookie season. The Magic do not have many guards who can create their own shot and facilitate like Richardson can. He should push for a starting role and have a good shot at dethroning Anthony Black or Jalen Suggs, as he is a much better offensive player than both guards. While Richardson is much smaller than a lead guard should be, the Magic are an elite defensive team, so they will not rely on him to take on too much defensive responsibility. MSU fans will miss Richardson making shots and defending well in East Lansing, but he made the right decision, capitalizing on his excellent season. Tom Izzo encouraged him to pursue an opportunity at the next level, and Richardson took full advantage. Now, Spartan fans will enjoy seeing Richardson ball out in the NBA. Sophie Cunningham, Sparks HC react to third incident of object tossed onto court
Over the past couple of years, the WNBA has seen a major uptick in ratings and overall fan engagement. Unfortunately, that has also come with negative attention. It may have reached a new low, as there have now been three separate incidents in which a fan has thrown a sex toy on the court. This time, it nearly hit Indiana Fever veteran Sophie Cunningham during a matchup with the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday. Cunningham had already joked about it on social media, and given her outspoken nature and reputation as a bit of an instigator, she didn't shy away from it: She also laughed it up on her Instagram story: Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts, however, didn't think it was a laughing matter. Following the game, she put the fans on blast for their "stupid" behavior. "It's ridiculous. It's dumb. It's stupid," Roberts said, per Yahoo Sports. "It's also dangerous, and you know, player safety is No. 1, respecting the game, all those things. I think it's really stupid." There's no place for any of this in sports, much less in women's sports. The league needs to crack down on this and take the necessary measures to prevent it from happening ever again. The WNBA is finally thriving after years of surviving, and while the fans will eventually grow to respect the product, not all publicity is good publicity.
Jerry Jones takes another jab at Micah Parsons over contract stalemate
The Dallas Cowboys have a big problem on their hands right now. Micah Parsons has formally requested to be traded, and he took to social media to vent his concerns and frustration with his contract extension situation. However, team owner Jerry Jones isn't ready to budge. If anything, the controversial business mogul doesn't sound too worried about that. Talking to the media, he implied that he had already shaken hands on an extension with Parsons, so he just has to wait now: "I bought the Dallas Cowboys with a handshake," Jones said, per The Athletic's Jon Machota. "It took about 30 seconds. I gave the number, shook hands, the details we worked out later." Jones, one of the most successful businessmen of his generation, pretty much stated that he wouldn't change the way he does business. "Just so you understand the way that I communicate with people that I negotiate with. Let's leave it at that," Jones continued. "There's is no question that in the case of a player contract, you have to have it in writing. All parties do. We have a contract in writing, yet we're still talking about renegotiating, so so much for that." Parsons has every right to feel frustrated. He's one of the best pass-rushers in the game, and he's the youngest in the short list of superstars at the position. The Cowboys have a long history of dragging out negotiations for as long as they can, and that's usually rubbed their players the wrong way. Parsons is still under contract, and the Cowboys can technically wait to give him an extension because the market isn't likely to go any higher after T.J. Watt already got a deal done. But sometimes, it's not just about money, and these power struggles are terrible for team morale.

Kevin Love reportedly has preferred buyout destination
Kevin Love is eyeing a return to his roots. The five-time NBA All-Star big man Love has a preferred destination on the buyout market, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported on Tuesday. Love would like to end up in Los Angeles. Now 36 years old, Love spent the last two-and-a-half seasons with the Miami Heat. He averaged just 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds over 10.9 minutes per game in 2024-25 but still managed to shoot 35.8 percent from three on the year. Earlier this summer however, the Heat traded Love to the Utah Jazz as part of a three-team blockbuster deal. Now Love, a 17-year NBA veteran, is pursuing a contract buyout from the rebuilding Jazz. Though he is a native of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Love played his college ball in Los Angeles at UCLA. He also has ties to both L.A. teams — he won an NBA championship with Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James on the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and was also coached on that team by Tyronn Lue, who is now head coach of the L.A. Clippers. Both the Lakers and Clippers are currently sitting at 14 guaranteed contracts each. While they still have spots for two-way and Exhibit 10 players, that means the Lakers and Clippers are both down to their final open roster spot. The ex-rebounding leader Love still has some value, though probably more so as a jokester than as a contributing rotation piece. While Love clearly wants a homecoming to Los Angeles, he may have some convincing to do for either the Lakers or the Clippers to give him that final open roster spot.
