Matt Brown Worried That Jake Paul Might ‘Awaken That Old Beast’
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

In a few months, the ‘Problem Child’ Jake Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) will face his biggest problem yet by stepping into the ring with ‘The Baddest Man on The Planet’ Mike Tyson (50-6-2, 44 KOs). The boxing community undoubtedly has polarized opinions about the fight’s potential outcome, especially when considering the difference in the fighter’s ages and skillsets. However, former UFC fighter Matt Brown (24-19, 16 KOs) revealed why Paul should be wary of awakening an old beast.

Brown was talking on the latest episode of MMA Fighting’s Fighter vs. Writer podcast. Paul has been notorious for riling up Tyson with his words during public appearances. In conversation, Brown opened up about why Paul might be making a significant mistake by talking ill about Tyson.

“I think the worst thing Jake Paul could do is go talk sh*t to Mike Tyson like he’s doing. It just doesn’t add up to me,” he said.

Brown further mentioned that Tyson is an “old stoner” at this point and has been following a rather peaceful path over the past few years. However, this does not take away from the fact that Tyson still is a formidable war machine.“But now you want to awaken that old beast? What in the f*cking hell are you thinking, bro? I don’t care if he’s 60 years old,” he added.

“Jake Paul trying to f*cking be hard on Mike Tyson. Jesus Christ. You can’t do that. For one, it’s Mike Tyson. For two, you wouldn’t do that 20, 30 years ago when you were born if you were an adult back then. You wouldn’t even have thought about it.”

“Jake Paul Cannot Fight”

While there have been divided opinions about the fight. It sure looks like Carl Froch is least intrigued about the outcome, as he is certain which fighter would emerge the victor. “I’m not worried about Mike Tyson; Jake Paul cannot fight. None of his knockouts are legitimate. His knockouts were against opponents who didn’t know what they were doing,” he said in an interview.

Froch mentioned that Paul’s skill set does not hold a candle to Tyson’s, and he was undoubtedly set up for failure. “Mike is going to be absolutely fine.”
