The Miami Dolphins are in a very curious situation with a position that not terribly long ago seemed pretty settled: wide receiver.
The Dolphins seemed to have survived the turmoil with superstar wideout Tyreek Hill in the wake of the tumultuous ending to the season that saw Hill all but say he wanted out of town. Miami also inked former Tennessee Titans wideout Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to a two-year deal to add some length to an undersized room.
However, with Hill involved in a recent alleged domestic matter - one that did not result in criminal charges, to be clear - one has to wonder how much more the Dolphins are willing to deal with their offensive star. And even if they are willing to stick with Hill, adding more size to the room isn't something that they should shy away from.
Nash fits the bill from a size and productivity standpoint. At 6'2.5" and 203 pounds, he'd immediately slot in as the second tallest player in the room aside from Tarik Black. He acquitted himself well enough at the Combine, posting a 4.57 40, 1.53 10-yard split, 34" vertical jump, and 10'3" broad jump.
It's really his collegiate productivity that is hard to deny. He earned AP first-team All-American honors after posting 104 catches for 1382 yards and 16 touchdowns. He led all FBS wide receivers in catches and receiving yards and all pass catchers (WRs and TEs) in receiving touchdowns.
Nash's usage at San Jose State is noteworthy because he started as a quarterback but moved to wide receiver in 2022, which obviously worked out very well. He stated before that being a quarterback has allowed him to process defenses differently than other wide receivers. He also played largely in the slot, which is notable for a player of his size.
The Dolphins have two picks in the fifth round, which could be a spot for Nash to come off the board. And with such a high level of college production, one has to think he would be worth a late round flier by someone, so if the Dolphins are interested, it might have to be sooner rather than later on the draft's final day.
