It's official, the Michigan Wolverines will return to the Rose Bowl wearing their traditional blue jerseys. Earlier today, the Rose Bowl announced that the No. 1 ranked Wolverines will be wearing their blue jerseys, while the No. 4 ranked Crimson Tide will be in their away whites.

Michigan (13-0) will make its 21st appearance in the Rose Bowl, more than any other Big Ten program. The Wolverines enter the Semifinal matchup with Alabama ranked No. 1 in the polls first time since 1997, when Michigan claimed its last national championship with a Rose Bowl victory over Washington State.

Here are some other notes regarding Michigan's bowl game history, courtesy of MGoBlue.com:

• Michigan will be making its 51st all-time bowl appearance, which is the 11th-highest total among FBS schools.

• Michigan will be making its 40th all-time bowl appearance in the month of January.

• Michigan has played in 12 different bowl games during its history, winning 21 bowl games, which is the 17th-highest total among FBS schools.

• The Wolverines are playing in the Rose Bowl for 21st time in school history; 8-12 record.

• Michigan's last appearance in the Rose Bowl came during the 2006 season, a 32-18 setback against USC on Jan. 1, 2007.

Michigan's return to the Rose Bowl has led some (myself included) to call for a classic look that the Wolverines displayed during their many trips to the "Granddaddy of Them All".
