It’s a big moment for the Delaware football program.
It’s having a good first season in the FBS - going 3-3 isn’t bad - and considering it can’t go to a bowl game or the Conference USA Championship, coming up with a great performance is about as big a spotlight as it’ll get the rest of the way.
On a two-game losing streak, it needs this.
Middle Tennessee needs anything that works. It’s on a three-game losing streak, and at 1-5, it’s now or never to pull up out of the nosedive. With three of the next four games at home, winning here might spark a second half comeback.

Is anything going right for the Blue Raiders?
There are turnovers, but they’re not getting crushed by them. The two given up in the loss to Kennesaw State mattered, but that’s the only time it gave the ball away multiple times.
The defensive front is good at getting into the backfield, the pass rush should work throughout, and this bunch has to hold up against the run. It did a good job against Missouri State and Marshall from rolling over the last few weeks, but …
The Blue Hens keep on bombing away.
No, the running game hasn’t been working, but they’re still scoring on the ground when they get a chance. It’s the passing game that’s roaring.
The Middle Tennessee pass defense hasn’t been horrible - the pass rush is good enough to keep too much happening down the field - but this is the first time it’ll be truly stress-tested.
No one has attempted more than 31 passes against Middle Tennessee. Delaware has yet to have a game when it threw fewer than 34 times.
The Delaware offense will be too potent from the start.
Middle Tennessee needs to keep this in the low 20s - it has yet to show any sort of firepower or pop to keep up a decent pace. But it will keep throwing, and it should grind away on the leaky Blue Hen defensive front.
But at home, Delaware will keep pressuring the Blue Raider secondary. The lack of a downfield passing game will haunt MTSU in the fourth quarter.
