Miguel Madueno hits referee during fight with Keyshawn Davis

The series of fights were taking place on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey in TopRank’s boxing showcase. Davis won in the fight via decision, but Madueno certainly didn’t make things easy. He clearly has a chin made of iron, because he took several shots throughout the fight. And it was impressive that he was able to last against Davis the full length of the fight.

The stats of the fight between Davis and Madueno paint an overwhelming picture in the favor of “The Businessman.” According to the Compubox stats, Davis landed 49% of his punches to 14% for Madueno. And Davis landed 53% of his power punches vs. 18% for Maudeno.

The hit to the referee wasn’t the only wild part of the fight, as Madueno tried to pick up Davis at one point, literally picking him up off the canvas. The referee stepped in and warned Madueno that if he did that again, he would be disqualified from the fight.

At the end of round 10, Keyshawn Davis taunted Madueno by acting like a matador. He danced around the ring for a little bit, before it finished. After the fight, Davis made sure to give his opponent plenty of respect, because he didn’t think Madueno would last as long as he did. And Madueno’s durability was more than commendable during the fight, withstanding an unrelenting number of punches from Davis.

With the win, Keyshawn Davis improved his record to 11-0 overall, including 7 KOs.

In some of the other fights on Saturday night, 20-year old phenom Abdullah Mason was impressive yet again, disposing of Luis Lebron in three rounds. Lebron’s corner decided they had seen enough, after blood was pouring out of his nose in the second round. Mason’s record now sits at 14-0 with 12 KOs. He’s a name to mark in the boxing world that clearly has a bright future ahead of him.
