Starting May 26, 2025, Mike Hesson will officially take charge as the head coach of Pakistan's white-ball cricket teams (ODIs and T20Is). He replaces Aaqib Javed, who served as interim head coach from November 2024 until this appointment.

Mike Harrison started his international coaching journey with Argentina in 2003 before taking charge of the Kenyan side in 2005. He later replaced John Wright as New Zealand's head coach in 2012 and remained in that role until 2018. During that time, New Zealand reached their first World Cup final in 2015. He also achieved historic series wins, including a Test series victory against England and a 4-0 ODI series win over India at home in 2014.

In franchise cricket, Harrison has led Royal Challengers Bengaluru since 2023 and is currently the head coach of Islamabad United.

Following his appointment, several notable figures in the cricket community extended their congratulations. Islamabad United wrote, "From guiding the PSL Champions to leading Pakistan’s white-ball journey, congratulations to our Head Coach on his new role with the national team! We wish him success as he brings the same wisdom to the Green."

Azam Khan wrote, "Congratulations on being appointed Pakistan’s white-ball head coach. Wishing you all the best as you lead the team into a new era."

Mike Hesson shared a post on social media, captioned, "Exciting opportunity lies ahead."

Mike Hesson's first assignment will be to steer Pakistan in the upcoming five-match T20 International series against Bangladesh, which is set to begin this month. Meanwhile, Javed has been appointed the Pakistan Cricket Board Director of High Performance.
