NBA star Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves had had a “different look in his eye” this summer.
Edwards’ business manager, Justin Holland, told Chris Hine of The Minnesota Star Tribune that Edwards heard all the criticism thrown his way from the 2025 playoffs.
“He heard the noise,” Holland said. “Every summer we’ll attack the offseason better than the year before and he’s proven he takes his work ethic a lot more seriously from year to year.”
The Timberwolves reached the Western Conference Finals last season for the second consecutive year. Edwards and Co. lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games. Minnesota lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 Western Conference Finals in five games as well.
A three-time All-Star, Edwards averaged 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.6 blocks for the Timberwolves last season. He led the NBA in 3-pointers (320).
In 15 postseason games against the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and Thunder, Edwards put up 25.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.7 blocks per game.
Bashing Edwards for the Timberwolves losing to the Thunder is rather silly. OKC was the best team in the NBA last season.
One of the top players in the NBA, Edwards is only 24, but he’s the unquestioned leader of the Timberwolves.
“That’s the biggest thing, because every year prior he was still kind of the young guy and you had voices who had been there before,” Holland said. “This year, he is the primary voice in leading this franchise and he’s carrying it as such.”
Anthony Edwards enters next season with career averages of 23.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.6 blocks. It will be fascinating to see how the Timberwolves do in the 2026 playoffs.
