2027 five-star running back Kemon Spell is currently committed to the Penn State Nittany Lions, but there's no guarantee that it stays that way until signing day.
Spell is still being recruited by several schools, and according to Rivals' Hayes Fawcett , will take visits starting this fall. He will visit the Ohio State Buckeyes, Tennessee Volunteers, USC Trojans, Alabama Crimson Tide, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Michigan Wolverines. Spell is the top-rated running back in the 2027 recruiting class, per Rivals.
Spell is from the Pittsburgh area and goes to McKeesport High School. He is the top recruit in Pennsylvania and the ninth-best recruit in the country, per 247Sports composite rankings. He committed to the Nittany Lions on August 2.
Alabama will get Spell on campus during the season and try to sell him on why he should flip his commitment to head coach Kalen DeBoer's program. The 2025 season is a big one for DeBoer after only winning nine games last year and failing to qualify for the College Football Playoff.
Alabama fans are used to making the CFP and winning it, so DeBoer will work towards accomplishing both goals for this year.
The Crimson Tide will start their 2025 campaign against the Florida State Seminoles this Saturday, August 30. It will be a great road test for the Tide right out of the gate.
Kickoff will be at 3:30 p.m. ET.
