The NBA draft finished up on Thursday evening and when all was said and done, three more OTE alumni heard their names called. OTE has now had more players selected in the first round of the NBA Draft over the last two years than any other program in the world
Alexandre Sarr was selected by the Washington Wizards with the second overall pick, making him the highest ever draft pick to come out of OTE. Sarr joins a young Wizards team where he is slated to be a key piece of their future. Sarr is the third player to come out of OTE to be selected with a top five pick, along with Amen and Ausar Thompson in 2023. Sarr played two years at OTE, most recently playing for the YNG Dreamerz during the 2022-23 season where he averaged 11.1 PPG and helped lead the Dreamerz to the OTE Championship series ♂️
Rob Dillingham was selected eighth overall by the San Antonio Spurs before his draft rights were traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Dillingham will get to play alongside up and coming superstar Anthony Edwards and with respected veteran Mike Conley, as he lands on a Minnesota team with championship hopes. Dillingham played one season at OTE, playing for the Cold Hearts during the 2022-23 season, and he averaged an impressive 18.0 PPG and 6.5 APG during the teams playoff run
Tyler Smith was selected 33rd overall by the Milwaukee Bucks, making him the first ever OTE player to be selected in the second round. Smith joins former MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo on the Bucks as they pursue their second championship in five seasons. Playing for the Cold Hearts in 2022-23, Smith was named to the All-OTE Second Team and averaged 15.7 PPG and 8.0 RPG
The first opportunity to watch OTE’s three newest NBA players will come beginning on July 8th when all three will suit up for their new teams at the NBA Summer League ️
