Nepal and West Indies are set to meet in a historic bilateral T20I series for the first time, with three matches scheduled for late September in Sharjah, UAE.
The series, confirmed this week, serves as part of West Indies' early preparations for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Nepal is expected to use the games as a final tune-up before their Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier campaign, where they will compete for one of three available slots at the World Cup from a pool of nine teams.
West Indies Cricket CEO Chris Dehring emphasized the symbolic value of the series, calling it “a testament to what cricket represents: pride, purpose, and the power of unity.”
“Supporting Nepal in this key phase of their cricketing journey not only builds the sport at grassroots and international levels,” Dehring said, “but also reminds us of the deep pride and honour associated with representing our nation and wearing our national colours.”
Dehring added, “We are proud to stand with Nepal at this moment in their history and look forward to exciting and competitive cricket in Sharjah.”
Nepal’s emergence as a competitive T20 side has drawn international attention, particularly following their spirited performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they impressed during the powerplay against Bangladesh.
The three-match T20I series between Nepal and the West Indies is scheduled to begin on September 27, 2025, with the first match, followed by the second T20I on September 28, and the final game set for September 30.
