The Wisconsin Badgers football staff has extended a scholarship to one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 recruiting class.

Hank Hendrix, a four-star quarterback in the 2027 class, earned his 17th Division I offer after the Badgers extended a scholarship to the athlete. Hendrix recently picked up offers from programs such as Michigan State, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, and Syracuse before securing his offer from the Badgers. The quarterback also notably camped with Clemson and impressed during his time on campus, but did not earn a scholarship from the program.

Currently, Hendrix is the 163rd national recruit, the 13th quarterback overall, and the top-ranked recruit in Arkansas. Hendrix is the top player in the state by a long-shot, with the next closest player being three-star Hakim Frampton who is the 400th national recruit in the class.

Hendrix, a native of Arkansas, holds a scholarship from the in-state Razorbacks, but the majority of the offers the quarterback holds have come from up north. Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Syracuse have all offered the quarterback and could be potential options as his recruitment continues to heat-up.

The talented quarterback is a versatile player on the field with shades of his basketball talent shining through on the gridiron. At 6-foot-3-inches, and roughly 165-pounds, Hendrix is primarily a pocket passer but the recruit showed a developing ground game last season after carrying the football 44 times for 104 yards and one touchdown. Through the air, Hendrix recorded 4237 yards, 46 touchdowns, and six interceptions while displaying immense arm talent and field vision at a young age.

The quarterback has a versatile arm and can both air the football out and also adjust his throwing slot to thread key passes through the defense. When watching Hendrix, the quarterback does not look like a junior and given the rate the recruit has improved at, the quarterback will continue to fly through the rankings.

While Wisconsin might just be looking to expand options within the 2027 class and develop more relationships, the offer sent to Hendrix comes at an interesting time. Fellow four-star quarterback and top target Israel Abrams was just on campus for Wisconsin and has been the main quarterback the team has kept in contact with. Abrams, however, has been closely tied to Iowa State and even holds an expert prediction to land with the Cyclones, which could cause the Badgers to pivot.

Abrams had a productive Madison visit but exactly where the recruit stands with Wisconsin moving forward is unknown, especially considering the rocky state of the program. Abrams is currently the ninth ranked quarterback in the 2027 class and the top uncommitted quarterback the Badgers have been in consistent contact with.
