The New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons are interested in veteran shooting guard Malik Beasley, according to NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
Beasley is no longer a target of the federal gambling investigation conducted by the Eastern District of New York, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN.
“Along with the Pistons, the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers have also been monitoring Beasley and his status in free agency this offseason, sources said,” Siegel wrote.
Beasley played for the Pistons last season. He averaged 16.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.1 blocks while shooting 43.0% from the field, 41.6% from beyond the arc and 67.9% from the free-throw line.
The Pistons lost to the Knicks in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in six games. Beasley averaged 14.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.2 blocks in the series. He shot 33.9% from 3.
Beasley and the Pistons were set to complete a three-year, $42 million contract before the gambling investigation began. The 28-year-old Florida State product has played for the Denver Nuggets, Minn esota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks and Pistons. He has career averages of 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.1 blocks in the NBA.
“Months after this investigation commenced, Malik remains uncharged and is not the target of this investigation,” Beasley’s agent, Steve Haney, told ESPN. “An allegation with no charge, indictment or conviction should never have the catastrophic consequence this has caused Malik. This has literally been the opposite of the presumption of innocence.”
The Pacers beat the Knicks in the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals in six games. Indiana All-Star Tyrese Haliburton will miss the 2025-26 season recovering from his right Achilles tendon tear.
