This is a Newcastle predicted lineup for their second outing of the Premier League season. The Magpies take on the current holders, Liverpool in what is sure to be a heated clash. With Alexsander Isak not playing and no replacement coming in, Eddie Howe’s side lacked firepower in their season opener, drawing 0-0 with 10-man Aston Villa.
Nick Pope started their first match of the campaign in goal. Tino Livramento, Dan Burn, Fabian Scharr, and Kieran Trippier made up the back four. The trio in midfield were Joelinton, Sandro Tonali, and Bruno Guimaraes.
Up front, new signing Anthony Elanga filled in on the wing with Harvey Barnes on the other wing. Anthony Gordon has been moved centrally to fill the striker spot for now. The eleven is largely the same as last season with very few moves being made aside from the addition of Elanga.
Eddie Howe continues to utilise the 4-3-3 setup that he’s been consistent with during his tenure in the top flight. His team is pretty gung-ho and all action with a high press supported by a high defensive line and full-backs tasked with handling a lot of work. It’s a tough system to pull off but very effective when everything slots into place.
A dismal draw on opening day continues the poor pre-season form the team had. They’re winless in their last three Premier League matches without a single goal scored. While they’ll likely end up doing ok, the signs are there that this Magpies side is going to struggle this season.
According to PremierInjuries there are only two absentees to worry about for the manager. Joe Willock is nearing a recovery and may even feature from the bench based on the praise levied his way. The main absence is that of frontman Isak who has been left out of the squad entirely after openly stating he won’t play for this club again.
