The Saskatchewan Roughriders were among the top teams in the CFL last season, and their defense was among the best. While they were solid throughout 2024, they didn’t quite cap it off after losing to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the West Final.

Saskatchewan is trying to get back into playoff contention and make the Grey Cup this 2025 season. With that said, they have made several moves to shore up their already impeccable defense.

The Riders have officially signed  Tevaughn Campbell after six years in the NFL split between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags released Campbell in August of 2024, and he has been a free agent since.

Through 37 NFL games, Campbell made 65 tackles, three forced fumbles, one interception and two touchdowns.

Before heading south, Campbell played 31 CFL games between 2016 and 2018, making 46 tackles, one sack, four interceptions and two forced fumbles. In 2016, he would play for the Riders. He then suited up with the Montreal Alouettes in 2017 and 2018.

The Ontario native has played in the province of Saskatchewan for much longer. He played his college ball with the University of Regina Rams. He played 20 games with them, making 60 tackles, a sack and 11 passes defended.

The Riders will look for Campbell to make an impact in 2025 when their season begins on June 5 against the Ottawa Redblacks.
