No Way This Earns Dylan Raiola the ‘Baby Mahomes’ Tag and Patrick Mahomes Has No Issue With It

Before entering his college football career, Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola had no idea that soon he would become Kansas City’s unofficial little brother. Alongside him, nobody saw it could ever happen. But sometimes the football gods have other plans.

When fans saw him next to Patrick Mahomes’ picture, ironically, everyone started to believe that the sophomore signal-caller is Mahomes’ twin brother. Their similar body language, especially facial cuts, took the front page of every coverage, and the NFL superstar ate it up.

So, now it highly looks like the 20-year-old quarterback will live his life with the “Baby Mahomes” nickname. Initially, it started just as a fan observation but now has become a full-blown nickname that’s stuck harder than a Mahomes no-look pass.

How Dylan Raiola Ends Up With ‘Baby Mahomes’ Nickname

Their similarity actually exploded when Raiola showed up to Nebraska’s fall camp. He looked like an alternate Mahomes’ closet version at first glance. His outfit, glasses, and hairdo were so spot-on that those viral photos made people do double-takes.

But gradually, it goes deeper than just surface-level similarities. Raiola sports the same No. 15 that Mahomes made famous in Kansas City. Some reports say scouts have found similar mechanics and arm angles between the two quarterbacks.

The kid even mimics some of Mahomes’ pregame warmup routines, though whether that’s intentional or subconscious, only he knows. The comparison gained serious traction when Raiola threw a 59-yard touchdown pass in his college debut. It was a lookalike football paper that had Mahomes written all over it.

The clip was everywhere. Mahomes praised the shot, writing, “Lil Cuzzo!!” Raiola was aware that people refer to him and Mahomes as similar-looking. So he later didn’t hesitate to say, “It’s pretty cool to be noticed by a guy like Mahomes. He’s probably going to go down as one of the greatest.”

Plus, he has some great football genes. His father, Dominic, was an NFL center, and his godfather happens to be Matthew Stafford. So, he holds a pure, solid quarterback DNA inside. Such a background explains why Raiola looks so comfortable running and why he deserves the “Baby Mahomes” tag.

Patrick Mahomes Is Okay With Dylan Raiola’s Nickname

Without showing any resentment, Mahomes has fully embraced his college doppelganger. He first acknowledged the resemblance when viral photos surfaced, responding with “That’s my lil cuzzo” to show he was cool with the whole situation.

The 29-year-old has never shown any bad blood about sharing his look with the college player. Fans found they are very much close when Raiola celebrated with Mahomes in the Chiefs’ locker room after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl 59 win.

Now it is Mahomes’ humble attitude that probably once made Raiola one of football’s biggest stars, like him. Or, it could be possible that they are genuinely that connected.
