There might not be a bigger riser in the 2024 recruiting class than Notre Dame defensive end Bryce Young. He was originally offered as a sophomore, with the Irish staff banking on genetics (son of former Notre Dame great Bryant Young) and upside.

As a junior, Young took a nice step but there were still some doubters. Then Young’s senior season happened. He quickly went from a near consensus three-star to the No. 50 overall player in the class according to On3.

The 6-5, 245-pound defensive end is busy enjoying his career progression down in San Antonio for the 2024 All-American Bowl. Young is using this experience to better himself, and prepare for officially enrolling in school next week.

"It’s been good,” Young said about the week. "I’ve learned a lot, learned a bunch from the defensive lineman that are here and Coach Burns. He is a great wealth of knowledge. I’m just taking it all in, competing and getting better everyday.”

There are a couple areas that Young has really been focusing on this week. In between drills, you can see him talking into what they have been teaching him.

"(It’s about) Hands and my hips, they’re going to get you farther than anything,” Young explained. "Also, working on my eyes. But honestly it’s just about not giving up on your rush.

"I’m really using this as a cap to my high school career,” he continued. "I didn’t end the season well with my high school team so I’m fighting to get the win this Saturday against the West. Also being able to make new relationships with the guys here.”

Relationships have also been a key part of the week as well. Of course he has had the other three Notre Dame commits in San Antonio with him, including Cam Williams, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa and Kedren Young. He also has been bonding with the other members of the East squad.

"It’s been awesome,” said Young. "We have built great team chemistry in only a day. The guys are getting along really well. It’ll be fun to see when we get on the field.

"I’ve been hanging out with Cam, Kyngstonn and Kedren everyday,” Young added. "We have just been building that chemistry too.”

All four of the Irish signees are set to enroll early next week, a part of the largest early enrollee group in Notre Dame history. Expectations are high for Young, who could fight for reps early in his career.
