When you talk about the biggest recruiting targets potentially for the 2027 Notre Dame class, Hattiesburg (Miss.) Oak Grove defensive tackle Deven Robertson is one of the largest, quite literally. Having already made multiple trips to South Bend since being offered several months ago, there is clear interest from Robertson, and the Fighting Irish have reciprocated it.

Confidence is growing on the Notre Dame side that they can land Robertson, and it appears it could be coming sooner than some expected. On3 recruiting reporter Kyle Kelly has logged an expert prediction for the Fighting Irish to land Robertson.

If Notre Dame is able to land Robertson, it would be a tremendous early addition to the Irish class that currently holds commitments from linebacker Ellis McGaskin and long snapper Sean Kraft early on. Robertson would also continue to add impact size on the interior defensive line for Al Washington, something this staff has prioritized recently.

Robertson has continued to gain a ton of recruiting momentum this offseason, with a substantial group of prominent programs have been taking notice. Some of Robertson’s top offers so far include the Fighting Irish, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miami, Florida, Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida State, Missouri, Arkansas, Oregon State, and Mississippi State among others. That list promises to continue to grow moving forward.

Despite the high demand for Robertson, he currently has some lower recruiting rankings. He is considered a three-star player by multiple platforms, for whatever reason. On the Rivals Industry ranking, Robertson is currently considered to be a four-star recruit. That rating has him pegged as the No. 347 overall player, No. 35 defensive lineman, and No. 10 player in the state of Mississippi for the 2027 recruiting class.

On film, it’s very easy to see the appeal that Robertson brings to the table. The 6-3, 304-pound defensive tackle feels like a perfect fit on the nose. Robertson is bull strong, but also possesses some underrated movement skills. He has some penetration upside, but the raw size presents a very appealing floor as a player.
