Notre Dame continues its excellent recruiting efforts in the 2026 class by landing a commitment from Charlotte (N.C.) Independence safety Nick Reddish. Notre Dame beat out Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Indiana and Wisconsin to land this talented safety.

Notre Dame has recruited Reddish for well over a year, with the 5-11, 185-pound safety earning an offer from the Irish back in March of 2024. From that moment on he was a clear priority for secondary coach Mike Mickens.

Reddish has been a frequent visitor to Notre Dame, with his first of four trips coming last April. His official visit this past weekend was his fourth trip to campus, and it was the visit that ultimately sealed the deal for Notre Dame.

A knee injury cost Reddish his junior season, but he was an outstanding performer for the Patriots as a sophomore in 2023. Reddish finished the season with 95 tackles, 10 pass break ups, four interceptions, four fumble recoveries, three tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.

Reddish could do a lot of different things in the Notre Dame defense. He can play on the back end at safety but also has tackling and coverage skills that would fit in the slot/nickel position in the Irish defense.

“The coaches and staff see me as a versatile player that can do whatever they need me to and play a variety of positions,” Reddish said in the past of how the coaches see his fit.

Reddish is the fifth defensive back to join the Notre Dame 2026 recruiting class. He is joined in the class by Pennsylvania athlete Joey O'Brien, Maryland corner Khary Adams, Florida cornerback Ayden Pouncey and the first secondary commit in the class, Tennessee cornerback Chaston Smith.

The Independence standout had offers from Notre Dame, USC, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State, West Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, UCF, Duke and Cincinnati. His older brother Quentin is a rising sophomore safety at Virginia Tech. He recorded 20 tackles as a true freshman for the Hokies.

Reddish is the 26th player to commit to Notre Dame. He joins Florida quarterback Noah Grubbs, Texas running backs Javian Osborne, Georgia running back Jonaz Walton, Texas wide receivers Kaydon Finley and Brayden Robinson, Georgia receiver Bubba Frazier, Florida wide receiver Dylan Faison, Arizona wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald, Kansas tight end Ian Premer, Ohio tight end Preston Fryzel, Pennsylvania offensive linemen Tyler Merrill and Grayson McKeogh, Michigan offensive linemen Ben NicholsGregory Patrick and Sullivan Garvin, Connecticut offensive lineman Charlie Thomas, North Carolina ends Ebenezer Ewetade and Rodney Dunham, Texas defensive tackle Tiki Hola, North Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., Ohio linebacker Jakobe Clapper, O'Brien, Adams, Pouncey and Smith.
