The Notre Dame Fighting Irish started the 2025 season 0-2, with losses to the Miami Hurricanes and Texas A&M Aggies. After four straight wins, though, Marcus Freeman's squad is No. 13 in the AP Top 25.

Notre Dame's national championship hopes are alive and well. ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) gives the Irish a 24.2% chance of making the College Football Playoff and a 3.6% chance of winning the national championship.

While still being focused on the 2025 season, Freeman is making strides in recruiting. Notre Dame has landed four commitments in the 2027 class, ranking No. 9 in the nation.

On Wednesday, On3 Notre Dame recruiting insider Mike Singer logged an expert prediction for the Fighting Irish to land a commitment from wide receiver Julius Jones Jr.

"NEW: Bold prediction," Singer wrote in an X post. "There's still a lot that has to happen before this recruitment's done, but I like Notre Dame to eventually land elite 2027 WR Julius Jones Jr. His father is none other than former Irish RB Julius Jones Sr."

Rivals Industry Rankings place Jones Jr. as a four-star recruit, the No. 14 wide receiver and the No. 69 player in the nation.

His father was with the Fighting Irish from 1999 to 2003, rushing the ball 634 times for 3,018 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Jones Jr. has received interest from several other national powerhouses, including the Miami Hurricanes. He was at Hard Rock Stadium watching Miami beat Notre Dame in Week 1, telling Rivals' Marcus Benjamin, “It was a great win for them, I’m glad they came here and did what they had to do.”

Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 160 pounds, he was named a 2025 Preseason MaxPreps Junior All-American for St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

As a junior, Jones still has time before making a decision. Other than Notre Dame and Miami, he also has offers from the Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, Oregon Ducks, Ohio State Buckeyes and Oklahoma Sooners.
