Notre Dame remains red hot on the recruiting trail as the Irish picked up a commitment from Portage (Mich.) Northern offensive lineman Gregory Patrick. The 6-5, 280-pound blocker committed to Notre Dame over Michigan, Penn State and Michigan State.

Patrick is an aggressive offensive lineman that is a force in the run game for the Huskies. He plays with the kind of demeanor and physicality that Notre Dame wants and needs along the offensive line. He's a quality athlete, he plays with sound technique for his and he's a punishing blocker. He's a left tackle for Portage Northern and there's a chance he could stick at tackle in college, but his combination of size, physicality and his athletic skillset are ideally suited for the interior of the offensive line.

Going into the state of Michigan and beating the Wolverines for a top ranked player, and one the staff was working very hard to land, is a big win for Notre Dame. In fact, Patrick is the third offensive lineman to commit to Notre Dame in 2026 from the state of Michigan. He joins Davison (Mich.) High School big man Ben Nichols and Allegan (Mich.) High School standout Sullivan Garvin. Nichols was a first-team All-State player as a junior while Patrick made the second team according to Sports Illustrated. Patrick was named a first-team All-State player in Division 2 by the Detroit Free Press while Nichols was first-team in Division 1. Garvin was named first team in Division 5.

The Portage Northern star is ranked as the No. 95 overall player in the country and the No. 7 interior offensive lineman in the country according to On3. He is the second Top 100 offensive lineman to commit to the Irish, joining Pennsylvania standout Tyler Merrill, who is ranked as the No. 67 player in the country by ESPN and the No. 83 player in the country by Rivals.

Patrick earned offers from the Irish, Alabama, Michigan, Penn State, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Washington, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Stanford, Minnesota and Baylor.

Patrick is the 10th player to commit to Notre Dame in the 2026 class, joining the three offensive linemen (Merrill, Nichols, Garvin) as well as Florida quarterback Noah Grubbs, Florida wide receiver Dylan Faison, North Carolina defensive ends Rodney Dunham and Ebenezer Ewetade, North Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis Jr. and Tennessee cornerback Chaston Smith.
