Ohio State has extended an offer to 2027 three-star safety Angelo Smith, he announced Tuesday on social media.
The rising athlete from Florida is the younger brother of standout wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, who led the Buckeyes to a national title in 2024.
Though still early in his recruitment, Smith already holds an offer from Miami. With the Buckeyes now entering the mix, Ohio State is considered the favorite to land the versatile defensive back.
According to 247Sports, Smith is rated as an ATH and currently ranks No. 28 in Florida and No. 32 nationally in the 2027 class.
While expectations will naturally be high given his family connection, surpassing Jeremiah’s legacy won’t be easy.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest high school receivers of all time, Jeremiah Smith finished the 2024 cycle as the No. 1 overall recruit and immediately made an impact in Columbus.
As a true freshman, he racked up 1,315 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns, leading the Big Ten in both categories.
He played a crucial role in Ohio State's first national championship run since 2014 and returns in 2025 as one of the most dangerous weapons in the country.
Now, the Buckeyes have a chance to double up on elite talent from the Smith family — this time on the defensive side, as Smith will likely end up in the secondary at the collegiate level.
With his recruitment heating up, Angelo Smith is poised to be one of the most closely watched names in the 2027 class.
