Ohio State Buckeyes pick up big win over another Big Ten team and they didn’t even have to step on the field

The 2026 recruiting class has been an interesting one for the Ohio State Buckeyes. At one point, the Buckeyes had a top-three class, and things looked like they could end up being quite the haul. Since then, however, Ohio State has missed on several key recruits over the summer, including some of their biggest targets. Even so, the Buckeyes still hold the No. 9 class according to 247Sports — and they’ve just added another name to the group.

Ohio State flips a Big Ten commitment to add to the 2026 class

Tuesday evening was a good one for the Buckeyes, as they successfully flipped a former Maryland Terrapins commitment. Three-star cornerback Khmari Bing has committed to Ohio State, choosing the Buckeyes over several other programs that pursued him after he decommitted from Maryland. Bing, a Maryland native, had been committed to the in-state program since August 2024 but reopened his recruitment on Oct. 6.

Bing visited Columbus for Ohio State’s Oct. 4 home game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and that trip showed him everything he needed to see. Two days later, the talented 6-foot, 190-pound cornerback announced his decommitment from Maryland — and just over a week later, he’s now a Buckeye.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Bing is ranked as the No. 78 cornerback and No. 918 overall player nationally in the class of 2026. This is clearly a prospect whose ranking doesn’t tell the whole story, as the Buckeyes turned up the heat on his recruitment this fall for a reason. Ohio State’s staff had planned to reevaluate several targets during the season, and Bing was among that group. He had an official visit scheduled to Alabama, but committed to the Buckeyes before that trip could take place.

With Bing on board, Ohio State now has two cornerbacks committed in the 2026 class, joining four-star New Jersey product Jordan Thomas. The Buckeyes are up to 22 total commitments and still have a few more players they’d like to add.
