Ohio State Buckeyes took a big step over the weekend with an elite basketball recruit who they are in the mix to land

The Ohio State Buckeyes currently have the No. 4-ranked recruiting class in the country for 2026 in men’s basketball. Four-star point guard Marcus Johnson and four-star forward Alex Smith are two major in-state additions for the Buckeyes.

There’s still work to do with the 2026 class, and it’s shaping up to be a crucial group for Ohio State overall. After missing the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament for a third straight season, the Buckeyes need to get back on track.

Not only do they need to land the top players in Ohio, but they must also make a strong push for elite prospects from outside the state. They took a key step toward that goal over the weekend with a major recruiting development.

Ohio State to receive official visit from top-40 recruit SF Luca Foster

Foster is a 6-foot-5, 185-pound small forward from Pennsylvania who plays at Link Academy in Missouri. According to 247Sports, Foster is the No. 36 overall player in the class of 2026 and the No. 15 small forward. Ohio State will receive an official visit from the talented prospect on Sept. 27. Additionally, Foster plans to visit Villanova, Oklahoma, Michigan, Gonzaga, Virginia, and Georgetown.

Ohio State is one of the final nine schools in the mix for Foster, who is also considering Oregon and Pittsburgh. He has already eliminated programs such as Penn State, Seton Hall, Vanderbilt, and Cincinnati from contention.

It’s not yet known when Foster will announce his decision, but it could come before his high school season begins once his visits are complete. For now, Ohio State is firmly in the mix for an elite recruit—and that’s exactly where they want to be.
