Oklahoma Beats Out Top-5 Power for Speedy WR: 'True Game Breaker'

The Oklahoma Sooners claimed two big wins on the football field already. They pulled off their biggest Class of 2027 recruiting victory on Tuesday -- edging out a top five powerhouse for this speedy four-star California playmaker.

Wide receiver Demare Dezeurn of Palisades Charter High verbally committed to OU, with Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals dropping his graphic signaling his decision.

Oklahoma delivered more than claiming a recruiting win over local university UCLA. The Sooners edge No. 5 ranked Miami in landing the 5-foot-10, 170-pound playmaker. The Bruins and Hurricanes landed on Dezeurn's final list of choices.

Oklahoma Gaining 'True Game Breaker' for Future Sooners Offense

Greg Biggins of 247Sports wrote a glowing review of Dezeurn prior to his commitment to the Southeastern Conference powerhouse.

"Dezeurn is an explosive athlete and one of the top sprinters in the country in the ’27 class," Biggins began. "The speed jumps out on the football field but his hands have improved over the last year and he looks more natural catching the football. He’s explosive out the gait and hits top end speed after just a few strides."

Biggins added how Dezeurn "plays with suddenness and is a threat to score from anywhere on the field." Plus how "Pali" feeds him the ball "primarily on screens and shorter routes designed to get him the ball in space and let him run after the catch."

But Dezeurn is equally "explosive" on kickoff and punt returns. Leaving this last statement from Biggins.

"A true game breaker every time he has the football," Biggins wrote.

Dezeurn is a track and field star too -- blazing a personal-best 10.32 time in the 100-meter dash as a sophomore. He claimed third in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Championships with a 10.39 time in Clovis during June. He's scored 13 combined touchdowns before his junior season began.

Dezeurn has delivered five touchdowns already for the undefeated Dolphins. He's caught 16 passes for 241 yards in the first two games -- including catching 12 receptions for 194 yards and scoring four touchdowns against Harvard-Westlake to kickoff the season.

He's the first college football commit for the Pacific Palisades school since the horrific January 2025 fire that devastated the community. Palisades Charter relocated to an abandoned Sears in Santa Monica to hold its fall semester. But he's helped galvanize the Dolphins and his community with his breakout play.

Dezeurn will now walk into an aggressive Air Raid/Up-Tempo offense in Norman through his verbal pledge to Oklahoma.
