Unified minimumweight champion Oscar Collazo (13-0, 10 KOs) scored a dominant seventh-round TKO over Jayson Vayson (14-2-1, 8 KOs) as he successfully defended his titles in the main event on Saturday night at the Fantasy Springs Casino & Resort in Indio, CA on DAZN.

In the opening round, Collazo and Vayson were battling for foot positioning without throwing many punches. Towards the end of the round, Collazo landed a cupping right hook, which sent Vayson down. The referee counted it as a knockdown, and Vayson was able to beat the count and make it to the end of the round.

In the second round, Vayson upped his punch output and had Collazo on the back foot. This prompted Collazo to then get on the front foot, change Vayson’s eye levels by punching up and down, and apply pressure towards the ropes. Collazo did a good job slipping some big punches, which frustrated Vayson a bit.

Collazo kept changing the levels of his offense, but it was the body punches that kept hurting Vayson. One of Collazo’s left hooks to the body made Vayson bend in half afterwards. Collazo kept applying pressure while Vayson could not find a home for his offense.

In the fourth round, Vayson turned up the volume in his punching output and had Collazo backing up throughout the entire round. Towards the end of the round, Vayson landed a straight right hand that buckled Collazo a bit. Although Collazo shook it off, he was frozen for a few seconds after that punch. In the fifth round, Collazo came back in round five as he was able to recover from the breather he took in the previous round. His combination punching was giving Vayson trouble throughout the round.

Collazo kept pressure on Vayson throughout the sixth round, keeping him on the ropes as he unloaded his offense. Vayson tried to counterpunch while on the ropes, but he just kept getting hit with clean left hooks by Collazo. In the seventh round, Collazo started to land his big shots cleanly and Vayson’s corner saw enough as they told the CSAC (California State Athletic Commission) rep to stop the fight. Collazo earns another TKO victory while successfully defending his minimumweight titles.
