If you've slept on new science fiction on Paramount+, now is the time to catch up. The mega-popular series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is debuting its third season on July 17, 2025. And now, it appears we know just how long the show will last. In a new official announcement, Paramount+ has revealed that a yet-to-be-filmed 5th season will mark the end of Strange New Worlds.

In an official statement, showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers, along with executive producer Alex Kurtzman, said that ending the show with five seasons is "just as we envisioned it." This seems to be a reference to the famous "five-year mission" of the USS Enterprise in The Original Series, and the separate (and preceding) five-year mission depicted in Strange New Worlds.

"With three more spectacular seasons ahead for you to see and enjoy, this adventure is far from over," the statement read.

To be clear, the next season of Strange New Worlds is only Season 3, and this announcement is about Season 5. That said, it seems that Season 5 will only be 6 episodes long as opposed to the usual 10.

Known for its standalone romps, Strange New Worlds Season 3 will feature one episode that results in a sci-fi rom-com, another episode that deals with a metafictional Hollywood murder mystery, as well as plenty of sci-fi action that one would expect from Trek.

Viewers will be sad to see Strange New Worlds end in a few years (likely 2027), but for now, there's plenty more action to enjoy before the end.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 debuts on Paramount+ on July 17.
