Patrick Mahomes has a ‘disappointing’ reaction to teammate Marquise Brown bizarrely claiming Kyrie Irving ‘hoops like him’
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Marquise “Hollywood Brown wasn’t about to pass up on the opportunity to watch Kyrie Irving and Russell Westbrook face off against each other as the Dallas Mavericks took on the LA Clippers at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas. Patrick Mahomes, on the other hand, witnessed the Mavs dominating on TV.

After winning Christian McCaffrey‘s online Madden 24 invitational, Brown flew off to Texas. He found a seat right next to a camera person ringside. From there, he was able to feel the brilliance of Kyrie Irving as he dropped 30 points on the night as the Mavs took home the series 4-2.

The wide receiver, who will start his sixth season in the NFL in 2024, shared a few clicks from the game. Brown pointed out that the Dallas point guard was as good at scoring hoops as him. His thoughts ended up on both Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

Watching kyrie up close he really hoop like me fr (for real). Marquise Brown wrote

Mahomes, who recently made his WWE debut , kept an eye on the game from the comforts of his home and noticed Brown’s message on social media. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback then retweeted with his own thoughts in the form of a disappointing GIF.

Patrick Mahomes on how the Chiefs can unleash the full potential of Hollywood Brown

Brown entered the NFL through the Baltimore Ravens. 2021 was his final year with the Ravens, in which he recorded the best numbers: 91 catches for 1008 yards and 6 touchdowns. He then switched to the Arizona Cardinals, and last year he was their second-top receiver with 574 yards for 4 touchdowns from 51 catches.

The Cardinals agreed to part ways with Hollywood Brown, and the Chiefs decided to cash in on the former Sooner. He agreed to a one-year prove-it deal, but Mahomes believes that they can unlock the 26-year-old’s full potential.

You obviously see the speed. What I've liked so far is how hard he works. He wants to continue to push himself more and more, and I think he has a hell of a great role in this offense. Patrick Mahomes said after the first phase of OTAs

When asked how the Chiefs are going to utilize Brown, the three-time Super Bowl winner also had an answer.

I think the route running is what I've been pleasantly surprised by. He has a good feel for space. I know he's done that in the past, but I think we utilize it at an even higher load. So I think it'll be something that we can really emphasize in our offense. Mahomes said, per CBS Sports

The Chiefs also added the fastest 40-yard runner, Xavier Worthy, via the 2024 draft. Additionally, they have Rashee Rice, who could be suspended for the first half of the season, Sky Moore, Kadarius Toney, and Justin Watson.
