Patriots Reportedly Hire New Scout in Form of University of Miami Star
© Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots have hired Cam McCormick as a scouting assistant, according to Ari Meirov. McCormick has about as much experience in college football as you could ask for, as he famously sustained nine years of eligibility at the collegiate level.

McCormick's final year of eligibility was in 2024, and he went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. Now, he'll serve on Mike Vrabel's ever-growing staff.

This is the third new hire in a matter of weeks in New England. Vrabel has added two new coaches to the analytics department and has also expanded the scouting department.

McCormick played his freshman year of college at Oregon with Mario Cristobal in 2017. Then, from 2018 to 2021, the tight end played just three games over three-plus years while dealing with multiple injuries and complications.

McCormick returned to play the full season in 2022 with the Ducks, catching 10 passes for 66 yards and three touchdowns. He then transferred to Miami for his final two years in college.

The Hurricanes' tight end was able to finish his collegiate career playing every game in 2023 and 2024, collecting 14 receptions for 104 yards and three touchdowns.

The Patriots will be adding an asset to their staff who knows the college game better than anyone, having spent almost nine years in it.

McCormick's playing career may be over, but now he'll contribute to the game in a new way to help the Patriots find the right players for the future.

The veteran college tight end has seen it all, and now he'll bring an added perspective to the Patriots' growing new staff under Vrabel.
