Paul Finebaum Predicts Obvious Winner of Penn State-Boise State Fiesta Bowl
Shanna Lockwood-USA TODAY Sports

The quarterfinal round of the College Football Playoff will soon begin, with a couple of major matchups between powerhouse programs on the horizon.

While many fans and media members have focused on what seems to be the biggest game of the second round — Ohio State versus Oregon — ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum recently discussed a matchup between Penn State and Boise State.

Penn State enters the game against the Broncos as an 11.5-point favorite, per ESPN BET

While Finebaum thinks Boise State has had a tremendous season, heading into the quarterfinals with a 12-1 record, he clearly trusts the Nittany Lions to take care of business.

Finebaum believes Penn State will defeat Boise State and advance to the semifinal.

"We can all sing Kumbaya about what they have done and how far they have gone, but they will not go beyond this round," Finebaum said. "As great as Jeanty is, he may have a huge game, but he’s not going to win the game."

The Nittany Lions are headed into the quarterfinals after dominating the SMU Mustangs 38-10 in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

Penn State has a 12-2 record with two ranked wins on the season, defeating No. 11 SMU and No. 19 Illinois.

If the Nittany Lions were to defeat the Broncos, they would play the winner of No. 2 Georgia versus No. 7 Notre Dame in the semifinals.

Penn State's matchup against Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl will kick off on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
